Katha Kissman – New Buffalo High School Class of '73

She's still a cheerleader – only on a different level.

Katha is a consultant assisting organizations with interim leadership, organizational development, team building, fundraising, and Board governance process. She is past President and CEO of LEADERSHIP AMERICA, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization networking senior women executives from the corporate, small business, government, education and nonprofit sectors here in the US.

Katha graduated from Grand Valley State and began her business career in New Buffalo by starting five businesses from scratch. She is the co-founder of the New Buffalo Railroad Museum and the Wilkinson Museum in Lakeside and has served as vice-president of the Harbor Country Chamber of Commerce and the Berrien County Economic Corporation.

Following two years (1998-99) of living in the United Arab Emirates, Katha authored the book Through My Eyes about her time as an American working woman in a Muslim culture.

She lives with her husband, Dr. Samih Farsoun in Washington, D.C. but stays involved with things New Buffalo.

An interesting side note: Katha, both parents and her three siblings had Mr. Slater for U.S. History spanning 1952 through 1982.
