Weekly Fishing Report for New Buffalo (Lake Michigan)

Updates by CAP'N D CHARTER SERVICE (574) 232-0436 | (574) 292-1221
Walleye are hitting at the mouth of the Galien and off the beaches. Steady cooler temps have settled the fish down and driving those feisty steelheads in. Good Steelhead action north of New Buffalo, but the warmer waters in the basin on this end of the Lake is giving way to cooler currents and that means good fishing!
There is still some Chinook and coho action for boaters, but this is when fishing off the breakwater produces good results. Perch fishing continues to be very good.
I'm done fishing for the season the boat is dry docked for the winter. See everyone next year.
2008 Lake Michigan Fishing looking Good!
State fish & game officials doing fish counts up along the coast predict a good year for white fish, salmon and perch bring the boat and rods on down and have fun.
Reminder: 2008 Michigan Fishing Licenses are now required. Copies of the State Fishing Guide and Inland Trout and Salmon Guides are available at all license vendors around the state. Get your Michigan fishing license on-line, just click here.
Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia (VHS)

Now, a fish caught off the Wisconsin coast of Lake Michigan has tested postive for. If you land a fish game fish that is lethargic or bleeding around the eyes, note the location of the catch and notify Michigan or Indiana Fish & Game officials. Help stop the spread of Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia (VHS).
